Beeton - West Country

anyone bought a home in beeton?
Builder is Cosmopolitan Homes...I've tried to find reviews on this builder but couldn't find any.
All I was able to find is that they primarily do custom homes at good locations so my expectation is that the finish will be really nice and clean.

Noone?
Anyone bought from Devonleigh Homes in Beeton?

Hi,
I've bought from Alliance homes. Do they postpone your closing as well?

azn_popcorn 2014-11-07 02:37 PM

I have been delayed 2 times now, and a possible 3rd time coming. The buyers before me have just got their delays so i am expecting it come. As it is right now, my closing is still scheduled for end of February.

Which model and lot are you on Kisaki if you don't mind me asking.

kisaki 2014-11-08 08:47 AM

We've bought in Sep 2013 and were promised to be closed in Sep 2014. Then in winter 2014 they made us to sign an amendement with the new first tentative date in Jan 2015 instead of Sep 2014.
Last month we received a letter from them with the new closing date in May 2015.
But when I talked to their production manager, he was very vague and didn't want to "commit" (his words) to any particular time. Seems it may be later than May from what he says.
We were very excited about the whole thing. The serenity and villagey feel of Beeton is very appealing, but these delays are not :(.
What model- lot have you bough and when? Is your builder more clear about what's going on?

azn_popcorn 2014-11-10 05:21 PM

Yes we very much liked the "villagey" feel of Beeton as well as Cosmopolitan's reputation on building high-end custom homes with great finishes. We are very disappointed on these delays but were prepared for any delays. Although my brother probably can't wait till i'm gone from his house haha.
We have looked at Tottenham and Alliston and most recently, at the new project just a few weekends ago called "Honeyfields", but nothing compares to West Country for us.

We bought "Panorama" on Lot 133 on Strachan Trail. My friends lives on lot 7 i think.

Nice to meet you Kisaki and hopefully we'll meet each other in the near future. :)

Nice to meet you too!
You are lucky your brother let you live in his house. We've sold ours and now renting. I'm sick of living in the rental house. And it seems like the closing will never happen :(. What does your builder say about the delays? Did he give you a good reason for that? Did he make you to sign an amendment with new critical dates? because if a builder delays three times, he has to compensate(not if you signed an amendment though)

azn_popcorn 2014-11-12 03:32 PM

Nope, I haven't signed any new amendments with critical dates. But our closing is scheduled for end of February so I think they have 65 days before that to issue a new delay if they so wish to do so.
I've been told that the builders cannot do any work until the company that does the paving of the streets, street names, etc have been done first.
I do go check out the site whenever I go to Barrie or casino Rama and its sooo frustrating seeing no improvements!
I've looked at my contract and Nov 2015 is when I can walk out of the deal but I really do hope it doesn't get to that point.

We just put a deposit down on West Country.. they said they are confident they can get us in by November 2015.. We have never bought a new home, what do you guys think the chances of that happening are? Could it be year's before they begin to build? We bought lot 20# Strachan trail

kisaki 2015-01-08 09:02 AM

Congratulations , Dinop!
I think they might build your house by November as the developing of the land seems complete. This is the most unpredictable and prone to delays part in my opinion. But you never know...As soon as they'll start digging basements you will know for sure. What model did you buy?
