Why do homes mostly sell in the Spring?

I'm trying to understand why homes mostly sell in the Spring. Does it mostly have to do with kids/school and not moving in the middle of the school year? Apparently July 1st is the busiest month for movers.

Does the fact that people just don't want to move in winter contribute to this?

Thanks for your input, this is just pure curiosity LOL

People don't want to move in the dead of winter.

Also easier to showcase your home if you have nice landscaping/gardening in the spring.

Tough to see what's out there if the backyard and front lawn are full of snow :)

If you have kids you usually like to have them settled into a new home in the Summer time so they don't have to switch schools/boards etc...

A well-priced, attractive home will sell at any time of the year if there are people interested in the area. Buyers can always choose to close outside the busy/snowy time. In my experience the market is not as seasonal as anecdotes would lead you to believe.
