Tartan - Spindle Pricing

Hi everyone,

We are anxiously awaiting spindle pricing - seriously - there can't be THAT many configurations - why can't the consultants at least have the price list?!? - ok, enough of a rant - so, in the meantime, we're wondering what other people chose and the pricing? Might give us an idea of what to expect! LOL

TIA!

I'm waiting on pricing too... still nothing yet! What are you looking for? I'll list what I'm looking for, and maybe someone can give us a hint!

Modern Square Spindles

Ouch! Do you think its the upgraded posts that is expensive, or the wraught iron spindles?

LOL who knows. I'll see if hubby has the breakdown PDF (if they even broke it down).

Here what I have:
Upgrade to have 3 pc oak cups on standard modern posts (2) with a stain on the rails, posts & spindles - $1055. Upgrade spindles _ $2100

Cosmogrrl,

I can't even really explain what we are looking for! :D We requested 4 different scenarios I think which include combinations of the following:

1) 3-piece caps
2) Upgraded stain
3) Bronzy spindles
4) Pewter (I think) spindles
5) 3x3 vs 3.5x3.5 posts

It'll be very interesting to see the variation in pricing for each of the different combinations

Desislava - Which upgraded spindles was the RFP for?

pfdude 2010-05-27 03:32 PM

btw it was about $525 for the 3pc caps.. just the caps.. doesn't include the posts or spindles.. just the caps.. two caps!..

I've seen similar fence caps for $5 each.

CBRider 2010-05-27 04:08 PM

Yeah, I remember the caps being ridiculously expensive. We increased the main floor post it was costly too. I think we were $1700 for oak railing with wraught iron spindles going from the main floor to the second floor. We ended up opening the stair case to the basement from the main floor and had a oak railing all the way down, it was $300 extra.

It was for the iron spindles (same as Whitney), but just the spindles with the modern railings. We didn't do it, it was too much.

Cosmogrrl 2010-05-27 10:24 PM

Ok, so got pricing back, and upgraded railings are a serious NO!

2 of 5x5 Panel Posts at bottom of Stairs at base of stairs and 3x3 posts as secondarys - there are two prices listed. $2075.00 and $2940.00

3 PC Caps price separate - and from what I've heard they are ~$500/piece.

Well, it was a nice idea, but no thanks...

tangle 2010-05-27 10:38 PM

I'm confused between the two prices

Me too. The way it is written, it looks like the $2940 price lines up with the next line that says "3 PC Caps Price Separate".
Just confusing... that being said, I'm still not paying for it. That's the difference between me getting my dream kitchen or not. Kitchen wins :D

ETA - ok, that IS the pricin for the caps. Figure $525 each and we need 6... Boooooo!

Having a contractor change the railing after closing doesn't sound like it would be a problem at all.. plus it'll probably cost half what Tartan wants to charge.

Especially if you've had to remove the railing in the past to try and fit furniture downstairs - it definitely is possible.
The only issue is the stain I suppose...
