the expensive part now is the number of AFCI breakers I found out I need with the latest version of the code. If I don't touch the upstairs wiring I still need 7-8 i think for the new circuits...

Both would not be easy as there is ductwork up against both sides of the beams maybe 4-5 inches to work with. The full length is likely out due to the way the foundation for the Stone fireplace sits...

Good point, I was wondering about just removing it and sliding the I beam into its place if the joists are not fully seated on the ibeam itself. That way the ibeam is all that is needed.
