If it were me, I'd ditch the whole breakfast area and just have a massive 10' island that people can sit at :D

but on the flip side you also have to deal with that wall taht the current island is...

Very nicely done. As for fireplace vs wallpaper. I vote for wallpaper but nothing too jarring. It's nice to have a fireplace but you'd be blocking a good portion of it from view with that big chair....

Thanks Patrob. Took me longer than i expected (mostly because i've never tiled before) but the end result was worth it. Plus i learned a lot during the process.:D

Thanks! The console is actually the Byas tv console from ikea.

The demensions are:
Width: 63 " (160 cm)
Depth: 16 1/2 " (42 cm)
Height: 17 3/4 " (45 cm)

It actually worked out really well.

I love these threads. We've finally finished our fireplace reno and here it is. I still have some minor fixes and trim to do, plus some haze and dust to clean up but i'm very happy with the end...
