We've been experiencing very dry conditions in our home not to mention, nose bleeds so we had a GeneralAire flow through humidifier installed on our furnace (model 1042).
It's been installed now for 3 weeks but it hasn't affected the humidity one iota! In fact, the humidity sits around 19-21 % and climbs up a bit when the humidity outside hits 80%.
The flow through is attached to the cold water - some people think it should be the hot water but I'd be afraid of the cost if we did that.
Any suggestions what to do? We have the system set to winter so the damper is open and there is lots of water going through as well as heat. We have our furnace fan running continuously as well. I don't know what else to do at this point and would entertain suggestions.

Perhaps the humidifier is too small for the home?
When the lifestyles of home occupants, size, age or the type of home doesn't allow a proper humidity level using the standard humidifier, it is sometimes requires to get a bigger model installed or a steam type. You can also get Rumidifiers, its a water and pad type humidifier that you put on top of heat registers to add extra humidity to rooms.

Our house is only 1500 square feet and this humidifier is good up to 3000 square feet. Axis didn't install it, it was installed by our furnace maintenance folk who have looked at it to make sure it's functioning properly and it is .. its just not humidifying the way we were hoping. I think by now, it should have improved somewhat, but sadly, no. The humidity hovers around 19-22%. It was up to 27 when the temp went up the other day and the humidity outside was high, but it's right back down in the high teens-low twenties again (but it's cold outside).
I've got it running wide 'open' and the furnace is set to 68 day and night to force the evaporation cycle to produce humidity.
I purchased a heat register humidifier from home depot ... it's good in our bedroom but that's all it's good for.
Anyway, this is a conundrum for us ... we're hoping things will improve.

Sounds like you need a steam unit.
