Default Railing on a Porch..

Would anyone happen to know what the regulation is for a porch that requires a railing. Meaning what is the height between the final grading and the porch, before a railing HAS to be installed.

Thanks..

For my knowledge, if the steps are more than three, it needs a railing.

We were told (by the guy who did electrical/cable wiring walkthru) that regulations call for a railing for elevations greater than 2ft. We had inquired this for the garden door looking out to the backyard.

He said you can discuss/confirm this with your lawyer.

I actually called the town today, your right Rose, it has to be 2 ft once the final grading is complete.
