Front loader washer/dryer locations

I remember reading somewhere that if you have front loading washer/dryers that the washer should always go on the right? Is this correct? We just went by our house yesterday and it looks like the water hookup is on the left and the dryer vent is on the right....

Hmm, not sure about that, my washer is on the left and dryer on the right, washer door came hinged on the left and dryer came hinged on the right, easy movement from washer to dryer....

I think they usually place the dryer closest to the outside wall to minimize the path for the vent. My set up is also washer on left and dryer on right.

ours is washer left, dryer right, though the washer is next to the outside wall.

It could be that your drawings are mirror image of the origionals. Could be that your builder missed changing it to washer on the left. The washer doors only open from the right. Our house is the mirror image and our builder (MF) made sure that the plumbing and venting was changed to reflect, our washer will be against the outside wall.

Our washer is on the left and dryer on the right. Sounds like this is the way it's supposed to be.

Yes, I guess I missread your first post. If it were opposite you would have the two doors in the middle and would have to lift the clothes out and over the doors to get them in the dryer...What a nuance and a first world problem that would be!

That's how our is too clothes from washer placing them into dryer is a pain but, the doors are interchangable and I could swap them around
