Yes, when we went through our design centre process, we were told that to accommodate the wall oven (or double wall oven) was to purchase the "Grande Kitchen" upgrade. It was about $7k, but it included almost every kitchen upgrade we wanted including pots & pans drawers, crown molding (any), valance (any), and a bunch of other things - I can't remember what!

We received our Design Centre orientation invitation in the mail. I called to RSVP and she explained this is their new process. They used to just email out the catalogues to each homeowner but now they have a meet and greet with about 20 homeowners around your area and bring you into the design centre and give you the catalogue for your home. They will also show us all the new products they are offering and answer any questions.

They are looking to start booking appoitments for the final design centre process starting in July!

Ahhh....I can't wait

I drove down by the subdivision yesterday and work is starting. They haven't hooked up to Portobello yet, but you can see tire tracks where some equipment went down to the site.

Minto is really moving ahead with Avalon, which of course, is directly across from Summerside.

I currently live off Trim so it is quite easy for me to visit the site.

Update: Drove by the subdivision today and work is coming along. The services are going in and there are pipes and heavy equipment on site.

The Site Plan notice is up also regarding the new recreation centre.

I am guessing that they will start digging basements this Fall.

We have received our Design Centre orientation invite also. Can't wait to get my hands on the design book. I was also told that they are booking design centre appointments for early July.

Lots of construction going on at the site.

Went to the Design Centre today for a second look around. Found the selection of tiles and flooring to be scarce. I asked if we could get more choice from Olympia Tile and was told no. Too bad, as we saw lots that we liked there.

Also appears that we cannot get the kitchen door style that I wanted. Haven't been to Cartier Kitchens yet. Am waiting to get my hands on the design catalog and see where things are then.

Starting to look like most of out upgrades will be done after closing.

On a much higher note, we have picked out our exterior colors and am just awaiting confirmation from head office. Hopefully we will get our first choice.

Our closing date is early next year and we just finished our final design appointment and have to say I was very disappointed with the limited upgrade choices to pick from. I would have loved to do a lot of upgrades after closing but guess I just want as much done before moving in. Ended up doing about 25,000K in upgrades and still didn't even come to close to getting everything we wanted.

I believe we will be delayed on the closing date if the weather doesn't cooperate this summer. Neighbour is a contractor electrician and he mentioned most projects in that area are on a delay. He mentioned that Mattamy just accepted bids from the electrical companies, this just seems very late on Mattamys part I think.

Thought I would bump this thread up.

We now have the design catalog, and as I expected, some items are reasonably priced while others appear to be overpriced. Here are some of the items that we know that we are getting:
  • Executive Kitchen
  • Glass Shower Enclosure
  • BBQ Gas Line
  • Water line to the Frig
  • Door for the Office
  • Remove knee wall upstairs and install railing
  • Insulated Garage Door
  • Frosted windows in washrooms

Anyone else wish to share their upgrades thus far?

Ummm not sure my list will fit ! .....lol
Here we go!

Window Seat In Master
Glass Shower - Super Shower
Executive Kitchen Pakg. (Chef's Kitchen)
Glass French Doors (Master Bedroom) - Maybe
Stair Railings (Upgrade 3, Maple) - the spindle ones
Stair Railing Stain
Non-Direct conduit for audio cables
Package of 4 Potlights (Kitchen)
Wine Rack
Microwave Cabinet/Shelf
Optional Cabinet Hardware for Kitchen
Clear Glass Door for Upper Corner Cabinet
Stainless Steel Vanmar Jazz 03" Chimney HF
Tile - Foyer
Tile - Garage Entry
Tile - Powder Room
Tile - Main Bath
Tile - Super Shower Ensuite
Hardwood - Dining Room
Hardwood - Family Room
Hardwood - Kitchen
Carpet - Berber - Upper Hall
Carpet - Berber - 2nd Living Room
Carpet - Berber - Bedroom #2
Carpet - Berber - Bedroom #3
Carpet - Berber - Bedroom - Master
Kitchen Backsplash
Designer Palette Paint - Whole House
Quartz - Kitchen

What I found weird is that the Berber carpet is cheaper than any of the other carpets, the hardwood that we want is actually a reasonable price and quartz is the same price as granite even though it's usually more expensive. I was quite happy and pleased with everything.
