Cardel are building singles in Longfields, confirmed from their sales center.

They are building urban towns and some singles. It's not all singles. I think the bulk of it, from what I read in the preview email was that it would be mostly urban rear lane towns with some rear lane singles. Probably a mix much like the Larco homes where it's mostly semis but there are some singles.

I know. I was just correcting your statement about there being no singles built in Longfields by Cardel. Wish I knew mor info though...lot sizes, available models, etc.

Guess we'll wait and see!

Ah! Yes when I first talked to Larco they said no singles but the email from Cardel said it would be new rear laneway homes comprised of three varieties I think. Will be interesting to see. I still don't love the location though

"new rear laneway homes comprised of three varieties"

I've never heard of "rear laneway homes", does that mean there's no driveways in the front, will there be backyards. Are there any examples homes that are similar to "rear laneway"?

Yes - check out the Urban Towns by Mattamy - they have been building these rear driveway towns for about 5 years in Ottawa.

From experience, I would pay attention to how the foundation is laid and whether there would be a basement. I used to live in a three story town that had a backfilled foundation (ie: no basement). The first level was FREEZING between Oct-April - so if that floor is considered living space, it would take a lot to make it comfortable during that time of year.

My 2 cents...

What is a courtyard townhome? How does it differ from other townhomes?

Got a little more information today and it seems only around 40 homes will be built in Longfields. 27 townhomes (mixture of traditional and rear laneway) and 13 singles (some attached by the garage and others fully detached).

And their lot sizes will be 38*100 or something along those lines...I sort of tuned out after finding out how small they were going to be and how few of them were being built.
