Default Any problems with having a subfloor thats non-plywood?

Just wondering if your sub floor is not plywood, but the chip-board stuff(correct term?) instead, will it affect the installation of hardwood floors?

If I were to upgrade to hardwood from my builder with this type of sub floor, what kind of problems might happen?

Thx.
