Default Apple Airport Express + iTunes

The greatest combination ever!!! We are getting our new place pre-wired for speakers in the upstairs and downstairs and I just picked up an Airport Express to go along with the setup.

I plugged the Express into our home audio system and then on my laptop I fired up iTunes, selected the Express for the destination, then started playing music WIRELESSLY!!!! Hehe so neat.

Anyway, it's no biggie in our little apartment right now but this fall it's going to be sweet being able to sit in the breakfast nook with a laptop and play music throughout the house wirelessly

Another option is this:

If you don't want to use the laptop to control music. You can purchase additional receiver to put it by the sound system, then the colour remote to control each receiver.

I've installed a few SqueezeBox Duets. They are a pretty neat little item providing you have something in each room with speakers and an amplifier. Just be aware that if you have 10s of thousands of titles for it to search on that it gets slow...

Very cool. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how I'll go about doing audio throughout the house. I had speakers installed on both levels and wiring for panels for each area, so at least the rough-in is ready.

I just recently found that there's a neat app for my iPhone too that lets me control iTunes remotely so that's my latest kick - sitting on the couch flipping songs using the iPhone! Apple did a nice job with the Remote app. It really just feels like you're browsing iTunes locally.

I imagine we'll see a lot more of this technology popping up in the next little bit.
