Lightbulb Electrical wires behind Crown Moulding?

Does anyone know if it's "legal" or "up to code" to run electrical wires behind crown moulding? I've read that some people do this but dont want to run into problems later with a home inspection if/when we sell.

Is anyone out there an electrician or knows one? Or have a copy of the building code at hand?

If it is legit then it would be so much easier to put up Pot Lights or Speakers after closing!

thanks
Dan

legal, so long as you secure the wires correctly, and they are 1.25" away from any nailing edge.

Perfect!! Yes I would be securing them with those large staples before putting up the moulding.

So are you an electrician? inspector? or just know this from experience?

Nah, I looked into this when evaluating the options in my own place. Inspectors might not like it, but the NEC rules are pretty clear.
