Default Monarch Mahogany/Brookside Owners...

My mom is building a Monarch Mahogany (former Brookside) bungalow. Just wondering if anyone who bought this model has any structural changes they suggest doing. There's nothing worse than moving in and thinking why didn't I think of that...

Some of the structural upgrades we got:

- rough-in for bathroom in basement
- Larger basement windows
- wooden staircase to loft since we plan to do harwood floors

She will do the rough-in and larger basement windows. I think she's also thinking of having a single garage door, upgrading the French doors to 8', putting a pocket door in the ensuite, and adding a ceramic shower. She'd like a tv in the great room and is thinking over the fireplace would be the best place. So many things to consider!

One other upgrade I forgot to mention. If you look at the floor plan for the ensuite, you will see an empty space between the shower and the outer wall that the builder will just dry wall over. We got the option to use that space for a bigger shower or convert it into shelves that are accessible from the office. We opted for the latter.

Which lot did she get?

Also; if she's thinking of putting the TV over the fire place, then you probably want to ask them to put in a 2" conduit that goes from the wall to the basement. This will make it easier to run cables to the TV.
