Question Construction specs for Campeau homes?

Hi there, I had recently bought a Campeau house in Ottawa. It was probably built in 1961 (that was the date on the original survey my seller gave me).

Does anyone have info on their construction specifications?

Specific questions I have are...
Did they put polyethylene air barriers under the concrete slab?
What kind of exterior foundation waterproofing did they do?
Etc

Thanks!!

If you aren't successful in finding information here, I would suggest that you contact the creator of the blog modernrealtor.blogspot.ca

He has a ton of posts about mid-century modern homes in the Ottawa area, which I believe your Campeau built home falls into. Chances are, if he doesn't have the information you're looking for, he could probably direct you in the right place.

Hi Bugs. I will ask my father today, he worked for Campeau back in the 60's.

Thanks for the blog, MC. It was an interesting read. Didn't find what I was looking for there, but shot an email to the author to see if he knows.

Hi Jer, I would really appreciate that!! Nothing like the original source : - )

Hi Bugs,
To answer the two specific questions:

Did they put polyethylene air barriers under the concrete slab? No. approx 6" of crushed stone and 3" concrete slab in basement and 4" in garage.
What kind of exterior foundation waterproofing did they do? Tar (applied with a brush).

Hope this helps,
Jer

That's awesome Jer!!! Thank you so much. It's exactly what I was wanting to know.

I got drenched in a rainstorm as I was coming home today, and this info made my day :-).

I dont know when plastic pipe foundation drain systems became the norm in Ottawa.

I wouldnt be surprised if you had clay tile.
