Cool Upgrades and special features

I am trying to gauge the level of interest and also variety of features offered to customers by their builders both before and during the building process.

Is there a big push for upgrades and do/did yours builders seek out any features that would differentiate your home from others?

From my experience they do not push for custom upgrades or features to differentiate your home from another. Most builders are more cookie cutter style and the houses are similar or the same. That's how they make them.

Do they want you to upgrade to better cabinets/carpets? I never had any push but certainly they always showed what just one step higher could get us. That being said, we've always been very clear on our budget and what we would/would not spend so perhaps they just never felt the need to push.

Ok. Thank you for the input.

Awhile back I created my own little upgrade from a project. A real unique take on a water feature.

I am still currently testing the market for interest...

Explained in very basic terms, it is a Waterfall insert, to give you the illusion of a waterfall in your wall.

I guess you could say that... The illusion being as if stone fell off and behind it, in your wall, a waterfall. Check out some other unique designs we came up with. http://www.aquariusff.com

are those at the back streams of water or other material that simulates water? I like the lighting though, gives an excellent accent to the illusion

It is water streaming down. You can reach in and touch the water, but the units do not spray at all.

The lighting does add an elegance to the whole thing. Check out our wine rack design on our site...

Any unique upgrades or features out there, other than the typical fireplaces, railings, fixtures, etc...?
