Default Fake Stone tile installation

Hello fellow home purchasers!

I was hoping someone would be able to help me out. I'm looking to do a fake stone surround around my gas fireplace in my basement.

Firstly, can anyone recommend a good faux stone product (reasonably priced and aesthetically pleasing), and second, can anyone recommend an installer for the job?

I'm somewhat handy, but I feel like having someone who really knows what they're doing is always preferred.

Thanks everyone!

i got mine at Rona and have seen similar at Lowe's and HD. It's really easy to do yourself, especially if you are somewhat handy. I did mine, it was really easy.

Thanks @jeffjc. How long did it take you to do? What kind of tools/materials did you need?

I did our fireplace, mantle, and built-ins from ikea and built a wall at the end so its hard to say how long the stone actually took. I figure to just do the stone on the fireplace is 1-2 days depending on size, etc.

I used a wet tile saw, trowel, mortar mixer, bucket. You may also need to put up cement board which may require a drill and saw (can't remember what I used to cut it). A level is needed also.

Ill try to find a link to mine.

I ordered mine from Emerald Tile, and I believe it was a Canyon Stone product. We love it!
And it was Fab Tile Co. who installed it.
You can see it here!

We will be finishing our fireplace after Christmas and have learned that some stone is actual stone veneer, while other stone is made from concrete. Just be sure to ask which is which.
