Default TV in Queencliffe Corner

We're debating on what to do with our tv, We're getting the fireplace put in and now are having a hard time figuring out where to position the TV:P We've got a 42" DLP. We're thinking of the corner just before the turreted window but then we block a window. I think the only perfect setup is to mount a tv over the fireplace (which give me an excuse to buy a new LCD)

Anyone have any advice for the setup?

When we were getting the Queencliffe, we were keeping the great room as a reading room or entertaining room. Then we were going to use the formal room as our Media (TV) room until we were able to finish the basement. We didn't need a formal dining room as we would usually eat in the kitchen. We'll be doing the same thing in our Oakriver until we can build our home theatre in the basment.

For those that need the formal dining or want it, most people seem to be putting their TV on top of the fireplace.

I don't usually agree with putting any sort of display that high up, but some people would rather have the look than the comfort.

But a plasma or LCD over a fireplace, won't make a difference. If it's a brighter room and you will be watching during the day, use an LCD. If you want a better contrast picture with no motion blur, use a plasma.

Yea the area above your fireplace shouldn't really be hotter than any other area in the room especially if you have a fireplace fan - so heat wise it shouldn't be an issue....
