Small transformer connected to light fixture in coldroom.

Does anyone here know the purpose of the transformer connected to (below) the light fixture in my cold room?

Looks like the transformer for the doorbell.

Yes, most likely doorbell transformer.
May have been an afterthought if they forgot the wire at the door. Fishing it up through a cold room right below the front door was probably the best possibility.
