Default RBC Mortgage
As my closing is fast-aproaching, I have been in touch with my bank re: interest rates, etc. Is anyone else dealing with RBC, they were originally on-site and the sales centre and gave special rates (as well as the brick certificate). All throughout the delays I had been assured that they would still honour the original rate I was given with my pre-approval. I think I received a letter from RBC at one point in time confirming this. (It's all been so long, so who can remember!)

Is anyone else using RBC and have they honoured the original interest rate that you were given? I just got off the phone with my mortgage specialist and although she gave me I pretty decent rate (I think!), it is still not as good as I was originally quoted.

I have a letter from our on-site RBC rep (Alex Wong) saying they will honour the 2004 rate offer (4.65%)..but I have requested it.... not sure if everyone got it..

We got a letter as well, back in March, guaranteeing the rate. We emailed Alex @ RBC when we found out about the delay.

Also, we saw the new Royal Bank branch is now open in Stouffville, in the McDonald's plaza.

yep...they basically extended their rate cap to our new closing date (dec.2006).We got the 4.65% at the spot when we bought it back in 2004.

We went with the on-site RBC for our mortgage.
We looked around a bit at time of closing, but couldn't find something as good as the rate we got locked in for. It was the same as what we locked in at last summer.

Also, if you ask, you can get 1% cash back instead of 1.5% certificate for the brick. it came off our closing costs, which was great.

they will also lower the rate slightly instead of the cash back

We drove by on Main St. last nite and couldn't see the new branch. That's the McDonald's beside the Town offices, right?
