![]() I had a question for you. At our design appointment - we had gone ahead and switched all of the washroom "strip lighting" to keyless light fixtures. I was doing some reading - and I've seen alot of people mention doing this to their dining room light aswell. We did not ask to get this done and am now just wondering if it will cause any issues with replacing the dining room light later on down the road? Is there any benefit to replacing the standard dinning room light to a keyless light fixture? Thanks! Last edited by danny_italia; 2013-11-06 at 02:28 PM. |

You won't get a dining room light, it will just be capped.

We replaced our standard dining room light fixture without a problem in our current home.
The design consultant pointed out that it is only an issue with the strip lighting in the bathrooms as you can't remove the fixture without damaging the wall.

replacing the strip light by builder is good - they install a regular box to hook lights to
dining room fixtures are just capped - at your framewalk, ensure its in a proper location especially if you are going for a chandelier |

We got a keyless for our dining room, it wasn't just capped. Actually, all of the places for lights all got keyless when we didnt' choose one of their offerings. Bedrooms, family room, dining room all got keyless. We didn't ask, we just said we didn't want any of their's so they suggested they would install keyless so we could install our own afterwards.

Thanks for all you responses!
In the book they have at the design center that shows all of the standards... They have a chandelier like light fixture that says "included light fixture Dinette". I was assuming this is the dining room, Is this breakfast area located in the kitchen? Here is a picture of the one I'm talking about (bottom right): ![]() Last edited by danny_italia; 2013-11-07 at 09:41 AM. |

Must be a builders special, those were our standard light fixtures with Urbandale 3 years ago, except for the dinette (we have some old fashioned UFO looking thing, lol).
