Exclamation Here's an idea - Your thoughts?

Hi.

I'm am planning on installing bamboo flooring throughout the ground floor (Livingroom and diningroom). 400 sq ft.

My out of the box idea is to possibly install ceramic tiles within the area where the dinning table would be located and then to install my bamboo flooring around it.

Is this crazy? Should I do like everyone and only have bamboo flooring throughout?

My idea is to somewhat replace carpet idea to protect floor where table will be located and have the protection from tiles instead.

Maybe I should neither have carpet not tiles and all wood flooring instead.

Any opinion, suggestion or concerns are most welcome.

Thanks : )

Paul

All wood flooring.

I do not see the benefits of having ceramic under your table. If you are concerned about protecting the floor, or moving the table around in the future, there are always furniture pads/sliders for that.

Agreed. Mixing 2 types of flooring in the same area wouldn't be the best idea. Just keep it simple ... all wood throughout.

There was an episode at holmes on homes actually showed how to do that. Season 5 if I remember correctly. You can't apply grout where hardwood floor and tile meets. There is a special colored silicon glue that looks like grout designed for that.

Wicked idea, but not impossible.

I think you should just do hardwood throughout. Like mentioned, use an area rug or furniture pads.
