Default Which Dyson to buy??

So I want a Dyson canister vac, but I don't know which one to buy.
I'm liking the DC26, it's a mini sized with all the suction of a full size (well, mostly). We will have about 1000 sq ft of carpet, the rest is hardwood. I was planning on getting a Roomba for the main floor (hardwood) anyways, so this is mostly for the bedrooms, upper hallway and stairs.
I really want a canister because of the ease of handling it on our long and large staircase
Any advice??

We have a DC23 Motorhead Animal (a requirement with two cats). It is great and has amazing suction power. I would caution against the mini, only because of the small canister size.

We only have carpet on the stairs and in the master bedroom but the canister gets filled pretty quickly with the amount the Dyson picks up. We usually have to empty the canister at least three times doing the bedroom.

Just something to consider

I also have the DC 23 Motorhead. Its an awesome vacuum it sucks up everything. and the canister does fill up fast. I got it because my wife has severe asthma and it is certified asthma and allergy friendly. Since we we started using it my wife has a lot less problems. when we first moved in I had to empty the canister about 8 times per room on the first few times because of all the carpet fluff and fibers it sucked up. and I destroy at least 2 indoor /outdoor mats per year because is sucks off all the fibers. I wouldn't trade it for anything. and it does a great job on the stairs.

Where did you buy, if you don't mind my asking. As these Dyson never go on sale. Should I go to Costco, or dyson.ca, or try getting one from Bed Bath and Beyond with the 20% off coupon.

TIA

Canadian Tire has some Dysons in their flyer this week but it doesn't say what the regular price is. None of the ones listed in this thread are in the flyer though.

Canadian Tire has the DC 23 on sale this week and it comes with the extra kit for cleaning furniture and blinds and stuff is a handy kit to have great for vacuuming the couch. I think it has 4 or 5 attachments in the kit.

You can get a refurbished unit on the Dyson Canadian website. Right now I see they have the DC17 only for $329. I think the shipping is included in the price. Sometimes they have a couple of models to choose from. It comes with a 2 year part and labour warranty, but if you buy brand new unit you get a 5 year warranty.

Home Outfitters just finished their $20 GC for every $50 spent plus 1 million HBC points, pretty good deal! I think they do it pretty often.
