Thumbs up Cat/small animal litter. $4.97/40 lbs

For those of you that want to try something inexpensive for your pets litter box. We now buy Wood pellets (for wood stoves) at Home Depot $4.97 /40 lbs bag.

We used to buy Yesterday's news ($17 /30 lbs) for our small pets and have now switched to using the wood pellets. Just make sure that they don't have any chemicals (it will be marked if it does). The ones that they sell at HD are chemical free and they are made here: http://www.granuleslg.com/

We just bought a whole bunch before they sell out since it's a seasonal product and emptied the bags into 2 large garbage bins with lids.

They are sold out at HD in Kanata. The one in Strandherd still has some.

I was looking for the same type of alternative just last week and the wood pellets were recommended however an another poster warned that the "pellets" may contain accelerant. Is there anything that may indicate it is "pure" for lack of a better term?

Thanks

The label mentions that their production is natural, they only add steam. I did not buy the wood pellets from HD last year since they had another supplier and the package had a warning not to be used for pets.

This post is nice timing. I bought 6 bags of the pellets to make a digging area for my son's birthday party. The party was a month ago and the novelty has worn off.

If anyone wants these pellets, I would love to give them away. I am just stuck with a way to transport them as the bags they came in are mostly useless now.

If you are interested, let me know and arrangements can be made for you to pick them up.
