Default Cedar hedges.. how much do they grow per year

Hi,

I am looking at buying cedar hedges but the price depends on the height.

Can someone give me an idea of how much they would grow in a year? Can I expect a feet?

price

$5.50 3-4 feet
$6.50 4-5 feet
$8.50- 5-6 feet
$10 6-7 feet
$11 7-8 feet

I want to get privacy in my backyard as soon as possible.

It depends on the type of cedars that you buy. But it will take them a number of years before you will have privacy.

Wow, I paid $13 per cedar (5 feet) planted back in 2011. I guess there is not much interest in cedar hedges anymore.

Check out Japanese willow trees. They grow quick, tall and bushy. I have two neighbours that have them planted along the rear span of their PVC fencing and they have very good privacy.

Cedar hedges are great. Plant them about 2 feet apart and keep them trimmed to the height and width that you want them to grow. It's all in the budget that you have. The bigger the better. The bigger they are the faster you will have the privacy that you want.

I planted our cedar hedge 25 years ago. Now I have a solid wall of cedar that is 70 feet wide and 9 feet high. I ignored it for a long time but for the past 6 years or so, every 2 years, I call in my local tree guy to maintain the current beautiful shape.

I kind of wish I trimmed it early on and kept it at a height that I could manage myself.

The soil in front and behind the hedge can get quite acidic that can lead to things like moss and poor looking grass.

Did you find a nursery that will install 8 ft pregrown hedges? If so, can you share the company name? I found 6 ft so far

There are a few places that have 8 foot trees.

I'm still interested in knowing where the OP got his prices from. They don't appear to be the same type of cedar for that price.
