appliances should be hooked up by the installers, it is the builders responsibility to make sure all wring is done as per code. In the kitchen you should have a 240W respectable for an electrical range and one behind the fridge and a fully functional range hood. If you purchased a gas range and didn't buy a gas line from the builder then you will have to get the installer to complete this at the same time you may also need to get a installer to install a regular respectable for the electrical components for the gas range.
Standard builder will give you the outlet for an electrical range with gas etc being an addon. Get the builder to come by the house and test the wiring just to make sure, I know they screwed my electrical panel and it took them 4 attempts to fix everything. PS don't listen to the contractors, guy came and put electrical tape all over my electrical panel and said yes this meets code. Stick with your gut and bug the builder to fix any outstanding issues and if you think its done incorrectly have the onsite contractor inspect the issue again. From what I can see, it looks like it is all wired up per code and what I need. The receptacles are there, the gas line is there but no one wants to hook this up for me (whatever it is they have to do). They previously said they did it all but recently said it should be done by the installers so they don't even know what they're talking about. I called a Master electrician as the installers said that's what I needed and the rate wasn't too bad. Money I shouldn't have to spend but after 1.5 months of a useless kitchen I think I'll just pay it and then blast both the builder and appliance company in every forum I can think of.
I provided the builders with all the appliances I was going to install and paid for all the upgrades needed, I paid the appliances installation fees. So I figure paying both of these companies, one of them will get this right but I was wrong. The appliance company was recommended by the builder and they still can't get this right. |

okay if you see the gas line in the kitchen as well as the respectable than the builders job is done. If you paid for installation then the appliance company HAS to complete the install.
Check your bill to see if you bought "hook up" for gas within the kitchen. There are 2 things you can purchase a "new install" which means the installer/builder will run a gas line to the kitchen for you or just a "hook up" from the gas line within the kitchen to the range again this is usually the INSTALLERS responsibility not the builders. |
