Default Appliances from Sears?

So I recently ordered all my appliances from Sears but the news today says that they’re are not doing all that well and may be closing. Would you cancel your order? I’ve purchased all the warranties too but would they be of any use if they shut down? What’s everyone else doing?

Really depends what happens. If they get bought out then hopefully you'll still get your appliances. If they go bankrupt then yeah there is a good chance you won't get your appliances. I'd also question what happens to your deposit in this situation - sears creditors will be first in line during a bankruptcy.

Extended warranties are usually handed through a 3rd party company. I've not bought from Sears before so best to check with them directly.

They were paid in full to be delivered in the next couple of weeks. I think I’ll be calling tomorrow to cancel. Not worth the risk.

I'm in same boat except with Corbeil. I just called my MasterCard and asked if I had protection for the deposit and they said yes...if I don't get the product they would dispiute the charge and I would get the amount refunded.

Also, of course I can't predict the future but I think if you are set for delivery in next couple of weeks, you should be fine. It's more so if you were months out from delivery (like I am) where you should be more concerned.

I would cancel any additional warranties - they're likely to be useless the moment sears enters any sort of reorganization.

Agreed don't buy any extended warranties from sears...all appliances typically come with a one to two year manufacturers warranty direct with supplier.

Garbage company. Poor support. That's one of the reasons why they are failing.

Found this. Looks like both dept stores in Ottawa will be staying open.
