I am looking for information about Democrat Homes, specifically the Maplewood Subdivision. My wife and I have yet to speak to a satisfied buyer or any buyer who closed on time. Our personal experience with the Builder is the worst one of our lives, and we are contemplating a class action lawsuit. We would greatly appreciate any relevant information.

not closing on time happens a lot. its probably in the contract. What other problems have you had with them?

I can deal with a late closing but our house took 5 years and one month to build and still not finished. Garage ceiling was 2 feet lower than the plans so I can't install a lift as I had planned. Said they would save as many trees as possible but clear cut the first 200 feet back from the road. House was supposed to be 50 feet back from the road and it is less than 25 feet, in an estate subdivision no less. I won't even get into the quality issues.

you need to go through each of these issues and see how they are addressed in the contract. if the contract says the builder can only be late on closing by at most 6 months for example, then you have a case. if it says they can be late but doesn't say by how much, then you have a problem.

back in the day when I was buying my house, this forum was a party. by now this thread would have had two pages of replies. there used to be people on here that could give a way better answer than me. now this place is a ghost town.
