Default Framewalk - Phase3'er

Hey all...
I've got my framewalk tomarrow morning! WoooT!

I've read though some of the previous framewalk posts, here is my list of things to look for:

- light switches
- light fixtures
- electrical outlets
- all plastics (bathtub) for chips
- caulking in vents
- laminate on cabinets
- windows operating properly
- making sure everything is level (counters)
- cable and phone outlets
- drop holes in subfloor
- advise putting in hardwood floor, raise cabinets a bit
- check windows

Did I leave anything out? Any other recommendations?

I'm gettin a bit nervous b/c I've heard so many people catch little mistakes, and I haven't found any... errr...

Did Mattamy contact everyone about the preconstruction meeting or were we supposed to contact them?

mattamy should contact you for the pre-construction meeting.

Justin, what are you checking for with 'caulking in vents' and 'drop holes in subfloor?'

For the framewalk, your home will not even be drywalled yet - there will not be any cabinetry, light fixtures or cabinets/counters - just studs and electrical wiring and subfloor. You may not even have all of your windows in yet! You will want to make sure any electrical and/or structural changes you made have been added. Also, check to make sure they have sprayfoamed around all of the windows (I think that this is standard with Mattamy now). I also recommend bringing a copy of the floorplan with you as a reference. You probably won't catch any "little things" during your PDI, those will most likely end up on your 30 day list since you will have been living in the house for a while and have more time to notice them. Don't worry it is really quite painless!!!

Justin, we close a week behind you so we must be getting close to our framewalk, when did you have your preconstruction meeting? We go Monday after we called them to book an appointment.

Hrmm... I believe my pre-construction meeting was before my foundation was poured... so quite some time ago.

My framewalk was fun and informative. Jen really knows her stuff.
She noticed a lot of things I didn't even see.
Although I did catch a few things as well. All in all, a great walk... I'd recommend to a friend

Okay then we are really late, we're framed and they are putting shingles on the roof. I hope they didn't miss our 9 foot ceilings ... would be very expensive for them to tear down and start again!
