Granite or Engineered Stone?

We're looking for new countertops and I'm looking for feedback from anyone that has experience with engineered quartz in their home or granite.

If you have quartz, how do you like it? What brand do you have?
Granite? How's the maintenance?

We have granite throughout & I love it. I find the maintenance is very easy, just wipe with wet cloth - that's it. We have had it for 1 year now & it's very easy in terms of maintenance. Our granite is fairly light in colour and have heard that black colour is harder to maintain, since you see more spots on it. Our granite kind of blends in with all the bread crumbs

But even in the kids bathrooms, with all the splashing & the blue & pink toothpaste, it's easily cleaned off.

We never really looked at anything than granite, but I heard that quartz is more expensive per sq. ft., so unless you don't really like the way granite looks (some people want more uniformity & hate the veins in some types of granite) I would just go with the classic granite plus you save yourself some $$$. It's like with hardwood floors, sure laminate resists more scratches & dents but it doesn't have that natural look like wood does

We have granite in our kitchen (about 1.5 years). As for maintenance, granite does have to be re-sealed. The lighter, mottled granite is generally more porous and may have to be re-sealed annually, dark more uniformly stones like black are dense and may not ever have to be re-sealed. We use Method's "Daily Granite" granite cleaner -about once a week and to spot clean - spray on and wipe off, works great.
