I have Lauzon's Hard Maple in Pacific Truffle, 2 1/4" and no issues with cracking except for one board but never bothered to get it replaced.

It is definetly not hard at all. I was stretching with my foam yoga roller and somehow put a small dent in one of my boards.

My preferences:

1) Mirage vs. other brands: Mirage. Used it in our previous home for four years before we sold. It still looked like new. Fewer short boards compared to say, Eterna.

2) Engineered vs. solid: Engineered for the durability. Solid for the price.

3) 3 1/4 vs. 2 1/4: 3 1/4 but will take 2 1/4 if upgrade cost is too high

4) Color preferences. Whatever the wife says. She said maple walnut. I said I'll vacuum and mop.

I don't know who I like more - you or your wife!

I wonder the same sometimes - do I like me more that I like her?

Default Rome Flooring

I was at Rome Flooring to check prices on Vintage solid sawn. They are having a Winter Special, 10% off all materials, until March 31.

oak 3 1/4" solid sawn, estate - $6.47 (reg. $7.19)
maple 3 1/4" solid sawn, estate - $6.87 (reg. $7.63)

I'd suggest visiting the store in person, they don't seem to be good at responding to emails sent to their info mailbox. :P
