Default Say 'NO' plastics factory in SouthFields Village

For those of you who may not know, there are plans to build a 380,000 sqf plastics factory in SouthFields Village.
A 24/7 factory that will be meters away for the residential area and in very close proximity to elementary schools. Creating safety and possible health issues for everyone who lives in SFV.

There is no need to have this in our community. Plenty of land to be used elsewhere for factories.

The builder should be ashamed for selling the land to a plastics company (it's business, I get it) knowing full well that a new elementary school is planned to be it's neighbour!! Where was their moral compass when they were signing the sale...

Unfortunately, there may be very little that we can do about it at this point. It is zoned as industrial (brilliant decision by the Town). But we can at least make sure the company knows that their neighbours DO NOT WANT THEM HERE!!!! Perhaps they will listen and find a better option.

I'm confused. Factories go in places zoned industrial. So what's the problem?

True, it has been zoned for industrial use however does a 300,000 sqft plastic factory make sense to be located beside residential homes and an elementary school? There are many other residential friendly "industrial" uses for that land. Would you like a 300,000 sqft plastic factory beside your house?

No but then I wouldnt buy a house next to or near industrial zoning.

have you seen renderings of the exterior of the building? Here in ottawa the exterior architecture ican be quite good. Tax base benefits and jobs benefits ... Many communities would love to have this.

I know this is an old thread however did you survey/visit the area before buying the home there? Various industry already existed around the area and looked quite shabby. That was one reason I chose not to buy in Southfield Village, along with the high prices for this development (which they seem to justify by being "close to Vaughan/Kleinburg").

Hope it works out well for you.
