I would list it on www.bytheowner.com and upload some nice pics as well.

Heard houses sell out real quick there, and there is no commission involved.

Here are some good sources (you might already know these) to sell privately to save on commissions:

www.craigslist.ca (free)
www.kijiji.ca (free)

Couple of other things you can do yourself:
1. Give an open house advert in local paper and hold an open house
2. Send out some flyers

Pics are a must, even on this site...
...The home is in a demand neighbourhood and should move quickly
