Smile Tartan Home = Good? Bad?

Hi all,

I must have had my eyes closed before, because I just recently came across Tartan's single-family homes, and wow! I find the floorplans really unique! I checked out a couple of their model homes and was equally impressed.

So far I haven't heard/read any negative things about Tartan, but then again I don't know anyone who lives in or has bought a Tartan home. So I have to ask... are they reputable? Should I steer clear?

Thanks! (This is my first post, but I love this site - so useful!)

Well, I'm not in my house yet, but I'm pretty impressed so far The process has been completely painless (the sales staff in JT are truly amazing).
We've bought the Beckwith. Check out posts by Nanners, JCSpecial, Sharkman1, Henbury69, TylerShannon... They all have Tartans.

Yes, I had a Tartan home, and it was very well built...just after sales was a bit pain... but hopefully now it has been improved?

I owned a Tartan in Findlay Creek and had nothing but good experiences. I found that they were very professional and easy to deal with.

I am now waiting for my 2nd Tartan to be built - this time a condo.

Our previous home was a Tartan. We lived there for 16 years and never had any problems.

We are building our bungalow with Tartan. You are right, they have a very good floor plans. We went to look at bungalows almost at all builders in the area. Nothing even came close to one we gonna build. I am very happy with my choice. This weekend we discovered that we have free-standing walls in our house in the area where cathedral ceiling will be. I think my house will be very nice and unique.

I see from another post of yours that you are building a silverbell. I think that you will find that that model is very similar to Monarch's Mahogany model.

The base price of Monarch's Mahogany is close to 500K! Wow! It makes me pretty happy with my Silverbell. Plus Findlay Creek is much more desirable area for us. I still think my house will be a very nice one.

We have lived in our Tartan connected single for a year now.

I would buy another Tartan. That's not to say it's been a perfect experience, but overall I am satisfied and would buy again.
