Default Rooms over garage

For the rooms over the garage, do they use any more insulation than the other rooms for instance would they use spray insulation? I'm worried those rooms would get quite cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Is it maybe something you have to ask for as an upgrade?

thanks

The underside of the floor joists over our garage are spray foamed, standard from the builder. Have this done if it is not included.

I think the spray foam on the underside of the floor joists (ie garage ceiling) is a building code requirement....at least in my area.

I don't know what code is in Kingston, but I can tell you what Tamarack does here. They "spray foam" the sides/ends of the steel beams than run through the garage, but they use fiberglass everywhere else.

Check your builders specs - that will explain what they will do.

This is ours(looking from the front of the garage). It's spray foamed all the way to the front and they even covered the ducts. But I can tell you it's still much colder in the winter compared to the other rooms in the house.

The bedroom over our garage is just the opposite, it's the warmest room in the house, weird. In our previous house it was the coldest room.

Ours is really quite nice. If the floor is foamed well, and it looks like yours is, look at the insulation in the attic, the window seals, and HVAC air flow balancing.
