Email Notifications and New Webserver

As of right now, anything to do with this forum emailing you is broken. It is beyond fixing.

The webserver running this is 11 years old and has been running non-stop since then. It's tired.

There is a new one in place and I'm slowing moving everything over to it. Hope to have it running by Monday.

That means, this site will be offline for most of Saturday as I work to move it around and getting it running.

So Saturday April 27, this site will be offline, but on purpose! And email will go out to everyone once it is running again.

That went poorly unfortunately. Too many changes since it was last set up in 2006.

I'll have to try again another time when I have time.

Out of curiosity, what kind of hardware does it take to run this and what are you using?

Do you have a particular preference?

I run a number of different sites, this being one of them. It was 2 dedicated computers to handle the web serving and database and then another for a backup.

Now it's VMWare installed on one faster computer running a dedicated webserver instance. If ever need be I can just copy the host file to another VMWare installation and start up right away.

Easier for remote management too.
