Default Home Insurance - Ottawa area

Hello

We are shopping around for a Home as well as Auto insurance for our new house in Ottawa. Any reputable Insurance brokers in Ottawa area who can provide both Auto and Home insurance with reasonable price?

Thank you in advance!

I deal with Palladium Insurance brokers (Marjo) and have been for years now. They get me the best deal depending on what I need so I've been with different insurance companies through them. I haven't had any house claims but they've been good with car claims.

We just switched to Rosa Sou at Allstate. She has been a pleasure to deal with and got us a better deal than our previous independent broker. RSou@allstate.ca

Me too but not with Marjo. I also had to make a car claim and I was well taken care of.

Thank you Will get in touch with Palladium and Allstate

Called TD today, and got the below quote for Home only. Do you guys think its too much for home insurance? (comes ~ $77 month with 1 mil liability).

TD Gold Advantage - All risk covered
Deductible: 1,000
With Liability: 1,000,000 - 935.28/year
With Liability: 2,000,000 - 956.88/year

Will probably need to compare apples to apples but mine is $108 per month ($1296 per year) with a deductible of $1000 and $2M liability.

Thanks BrianT. This is good, atleast gives me a ballpark on how much Ottawa folks paying per month.
Friend of mine at Milton, ON (million dollar home) paying only 61.33$/month through TD (don't know coverage details).

Pricing will depend on a lot of things, including how big your house is and what kind of discounts you get. I've been with the same company for a long time, they insure my house and car, I have backwater valves (sewer and water), monitored alarm with fire and water alarms, don't smoke, have good credit rating, etc. My townhouse is costing me a little less than my single was, but I'm in the $600/yr range with 2 mil liability and the water riders.

Got a quote from my current Allstate agent:

Needed to clarify the following with you folks:

a) In my home insurance quote, "Home Replacement Cost Guarantee" and "Replacement cost on contents" only shows "Yes" in the quote but no amount value written. Agent told me "There is no amount for this – Home replacement cost guarantee states that in the event of a total loss if its going to cost more then what the dwelling rebuild cost is, Allstate pays the difference. He mentioned its the same acount as the dwelling amount limit. But TD agent told me usually "Home Replacement Cost Guarantee" is double the amount of "dwelling" - so not too sure about this one.
b) Asked what is exact water damage protection included in my quote? Allstate mentioned "Any sudden rupture for water will be covered – ie, pipes burst, hot water tank burst etc"
c) "Sewer Back-Up Endorsement" - does that includes "surface water" also? Allstate mentioned "No it doesn’t cover that – It does cover if your sump pump fails".
d) Currently quoted for 1M liability - if we plan to increase to 2M its $7/year more.
e) Coverage for Voluntary Medical and Property Damage included in this plan? Allstate mentioned "Yes we that coverage", but i do not see it on the coverage list.
