Default Occupancy Sensor Switches (motion sensors) that fade in/out?

Just wondering if anyone's purchased (or researched) any occupancy sensors that fade-in and fade-out (rather than instant-on/instant-off)..?

I know the costco sensors are instant-on/instant-off.

This Lutron one apparently fades on/off, but that's because it's also a dimmer.. but even they don't clearly specify that the lights will fade in/out.. I only found out by a random comment on amazon..

It's rather pricey though. I don't need the dimmer functionality though..

And I'm finding it difficult to find products available in canada with sufficient descriptions..

They sell this one from Cooper Wiring at Rona.. But somehow I do not think it will fade in/out either..

Anyone know or have occupancy sensors that do?

Thanks,
Will

An occupancy sensor is one, thing. A light dimmer is another.

Occupancy sensors will determine if a room is occupied and signal something else to let it know and act appropriately.. In this case I am assuming you want it to dim a light on/off.

We can certainly do (and have) done what you are asking with home automation systems, but that is going to be much more than the $40 you have listed for the Lutron model.

And honestly, $40 is pretty inexpensive for what you are asking.

Yes, but an occupancy sensor can be purchased for $10 ($20 for a 2-pack @ costco), and a decora-style dimmer can be purchased from about $15..

So buying 4 @ $40/piece is a hard sell to my wife..
(she obviously does not see the advantage or genius of a combination dimmer/motion sensor )

You have to get both of those things into a decora sized box and make them work, then manufacture them with a low-expectation on sales since they will sell a fraction of them compared to a standard 2-way switch. $40 is still a steal.

If you are installing a few of them, I don't see what the issue is. If you are installing 20 of them, then it's harder to swallow.

I would suggest buy and install one and see how she likes it. She will probably then want more.
