Default Real Estate Fees

We are getting ready to list our home in Waterdown and I was wondering if anybody knows what the standard real estate fees are? Is there a way to get better rates? Which Realtors are good?

Thanks

Where are you located? What office? Did you have to drive a hard bargain or is this a standard rate for them?

It's quite common now for agents to charge only 3% total fee. Some still charge the typical 5%

It's common for 3% !? I thought 5% was the standard which is a huge factor as to why we are selling our house privately.

There are agents that will do it for 3%. What I mean is that agents know a lot of people are selling privately that's why they felt they had to lower their commissions. Don't get me wrong, you will still find a lot of agents that are charging 4% or more, but I bet it's just a matter of time...

My mom sold her 2 houses 2 years ago & the agent only charged her 3% total. I asked him how he can do it for so little & he said that it just brings him more business vs. if he was charging more.
