Default Tamarack homes

Hi, we are going to build a tamarack home. Does anyone have and tips, comments, photos they would like to share? How was your experience? Is there anything you wish you did now that you are living in it?

What model are you building? We live in a Tamarack and it was our second new home. I could likely provide a few tips/pointers.

Hi, we are going to have the Oxford model built. This will actually be our 5 new home we've had built but our first time building with Tamarack. I've found with every move that we wished we had done some things differently once we moved in. We are getting the butler's pantry and we moved the fire place because we like the back of our couch to be against a wall. We keep going back and forth on raising the basement by 12".

Was there anything you wished you could have changed with either of your homes?

We have a Bristol so I can't really speak to the Oxford. A few friends have one and I have to say the butler's pantry is a good call.

One idea I've seen in our area is to turn the study in the Oxford into a "play room" for kids. Then, close the door off where it normally would be, and make the door open into the living room instead. I'm not keen on this myself, but I've seen it done and thought you may want to know about it.

Some neighbours have Oxford's and I've been in both. Structural upgrades include having the doors for the mudroom and study at 45 degrees rather than the current layout. It really does open that area up. The other neighbour doesn't have the open to above entry.

Tamarack Amateur...

If you need any mortgage advice for your upcoming home, please let me know. I work with a Tamarack site here in Ottawa.

Cheers
