it hasn't been introduced, it hasn't been debated, it hasn't passed. Way too early to panic. |

This is what i found out about the subject
You won't likely notice any immediate difference if the Liberals do decide to go ahead. It will take at least a year or more to implement the changes - and the higher prices that will inevitably come with them. |

This sounds realistic as it is definitely not an overnight change. What is your source?

well, to oversimplify the matter, cash registers can't all get updated and fixed overnight. companies need advanced notice.

Not sure how some people mentioned that they never heard of this and the impact to housing when its all over the papers!! Since January!
This one quantifies $ impact to housing, like 17k difference on a 350k house http://www.thestar.com/comment/colum...article/578862 This one talks about the other areas other than housing that it will impact. Fast food meals under $4, books, kids clothing, etc. http://www.thestar.com/News/Ontario/article/607835 Last edited by K'n'P; 2009-03-25 at 06:22 PM. |

Here is what I heard on 680 NEWS. Tomorrow, the province would announce they have agreed to harmonize the tax and this process will take couple of months. Certain things will be exempted and the worse news for most of us is that new home purchases would be exempt under $400,000.00.
This is terrible news !! Take for example Starlane home listed at $397,000. The problem is that we have decors and other upgrades rolled into the mortgage that would take the price over the threshold. Again, this is just what was announced over the radio and should be confirmed tomorrow. |
