Hello fellow neighbours,

Any status on the public school being built in Copper Hills?

The YRDSB site just has it as a proposed school. There is still not a date attached to its completion. Many of the proposed schools have a date of completion listed on the site, but ours just says North Leslie School - TBA. So it could be a few years before anything happens. The last school on the list that has a date attached to it is a date of 2017. Since we don't have a date attached to ours yet, I'm not sure if ours would be built later than that, or how that exactly works.
For now, our little one will be starting JK at Bogart in September, which is just behind the Tim Horton's/Vince's market plaza on Mulock.
Hope this helps.

Default proposed school

Hi guys

I contacted the planning chair for YDRSB she advised that there are still not enough kids in the area to warrant a school and furthermore both Bogart and stonehaven still have enough room to handle the overflow. With parents who have young ones one of the selling point of this area was the fact that the school was supposed to be built and so close to us however now there's no guarantee. We have our kids at Bogart good school but still not as convenient

Default Proposed School

Thanks for all of your replies.

Our little one is about 4 years away from JK so, we're not worried as of yet. But, this area is full of kids and there are a lot of strollers everywhere etc.. So, I'm trying to figure out what kind of math are they doing to say that there are not enough kids in the area? There hasn't been a questionnaire or survey conducted for the Copper Hills area as far as I know.

To those who have little ones in school right now, is there a school bus that picks up the kids? And how long does it take from your home to school?

Thanks in advance.

Congrats on you're little one. You can find the bus stop information on this website.

It can change every year.

Default New Information

On the York Region District School Board site (http://www.yrdsb.ca), they have placed and listed the elemantary school for Copper Hills. At this point, it is 'unnamed'.

School Locator: http://www.yrdsb.ca/schools/Pages/School-Locator.aspx

For the 2014-15 calendar year, YRDSB, has divided Copper Hills into two regions as to which children should attend which elemantary schools. North of Veteran's Way to Stonehaven ES and South of Veteran's Way to Bogart PS.

It will only be a matter of time until the Copper Hills ES is announced.

Default private school

Any good private school to choose in New Market and Aurora area?

Pickering secondary/high school is pretty good, not sure about pre-school and elementary school. St. Andrews is top 25 but is boy only school.

Anything else to recommend? What about country garden, ndca, nmcla, lmmh etc?
