Arrow HELP - Heat Issue

Hello Everyone,
We bought a new home and wanted to test the temperature because the second floor has been really cold even if we increase the heat temperature.
The first floor, the temperature is 24C (usually), but upstairs it is 18-19C.
Is this normal?
I also have an issue with the fireplace bringing chilly air into the house when it is off.
If anyone has any ideas/solutions/explanations/comments please feel free to inform us!
Thanks for your help.

No it is not normal.
Are you saying your entire upstairs is about 18-19, or just one room?
For your fireplace, is your pilot light on?

Check the attic insulation. My home inspector discovered that mine was not quite where it should have been (the layer was a few inches too short). The builder came in and blew more insulation in.

Yeah that is large temp discrepancy. Shouldn't be.

Are you using the cheap analog builders thermostat? If so swap it for a dig. one. Maybe it's not really set for 24.

Wow...24. I'd be sweating.

Yep... I'd check the attic as well. The inpsector found that my house did not have enough insulation in the attic either. The developer came in and blew in more insulation.

No, it is just the corner room that is 18-19C, and the other is 20C, the carpet also feels cold.
By the way, do you know what the thickness of the insulation should be?

and about the fireplace, the pilot light is off. Is it suppose to be on 24/hours a day for this not to happen?

Thanks for your reply.
