Default home inspection for new home before 30 days

Hi,

Is it good idea to do home inspection on new home before 30 day? How much does it cost roughly?

Thanks
Dave

I got a 30 day home inspection myself - I'm a first time home buyer and in my case, it was just to have peace of mind. In Ottawa, my home inspection was approximately $350 - $400 for my townhouse. I also got a 1-year inspection at the same approximate cost.

Good luck!

i'd do it for your 1 year, that way the inspector gets to see your house after a all 4 seasons take their toll on your house, especially winter.

I'm getting an inspection before the 30-day, and one at the 1-year from two different inspectors.

I think it is a waste of money, I would and did get it for my one year though. I know people are saying piece of mind but the piece of mind you get is only as good as the inspector. If I did it all over again, I would get and pay for an HOH inspection...yup willing to pay for the name in this case.

You're absolutely right, it's only as good as the inspector. The HOH name doesn't guarantee you a better inspector, just one that has bought into that franchise. In an unlicenced, unregulated industry you take your chances no matter what the name. As with most recommendations in the hosuing industry go by the recommendations of others that have been satisfied with a particular company's work. Ask to see examples of their work. Ask what your satisfaction guarantee is.
Infomercial shows rarely live up to their hype.
