Default Spray Foam Day!

I had the spray foam installed yesterday and I have to say I'm quite pleased.

If you notice some of my studs are white, well - that's quite a story. The building inspector didn't like that my studs were 1 1/2" away from the poured foundation walls. He said that in order for the spray foam to act as a proper vapour barrier it needed to be 2" thick. In order to create a proper vapour barrier, he had me paint the front and sides of all the studs that weren't 2". The paint is a "vapour barrier" paint.

The spray foam guy heard this story and laughed. He said most basement's that he does have the studs much closer than my 1 1/2".

Anyway, it turned out well and we're ready to move back in today after 24hrs outside the house. Things are flying along!

Good catch G2K. Very good catch.

I showed up on site about an hour after they foamed. He told me about that corner and mentioned it was the only place his gun wouldn't reach. His suggestion was to buy a can or two of expandable foam (the kind that REALLY expands), and shoot it in there as best I could, which I did tonight.

I may have gone a little overboard, but you can never have too much foam.

I noticed that too. This is a situation that calls for a California corner framing method.
