Default Dirty grout!!!

Ok! So my grout on my main floor is really stained. I'm told that my builder will not fix it as I was supposed to seal my own grout after move in!! Really?? Were does it say that in my paperwork? Nobody shared this information with me. So now I have to contact Tarion about this. Not sure how that all works. I've tried everything but bleach my grout which I don't want to do but my my grout looks horrible. What do I do??

was this problem identified on your pdi? has the builder refused to fix it?

usually the front entrance takes a beating during final construction especially in winter/spring

The grout in the entrance looks awesome still. It's the grout in the kitchen and mudroom that looks really bad. Nothing on the pdi it was ok when we moved in last year.

ok I get it now

Tarion won't do anything since the homeowner is responsible

you could try bleach and/or get some grout stain

Yep, since it wasn't there on the pdi it was you who stained it so builder is correct (by not doing anything) and Tarion will not do anything.

It may sound odd but try tooth paste (white tooth paste) and scrub it with a tooth brush. If you use blue toothpaste it may absorb into the grout.

Another alternative is to try using Magic Eraser

Thanks for the suggestions but bleach might make my grout stark white. That's no good. I'll try the toothpaste.

Soffie, funny because the grout in my main entrance looks good as well and my kitchen is crazy dirty too! Guess it's because we spend so much time in there cooking etc.
