Smile Anyone buy an Oriole?

We bought an Oriole Elevation A reversed, and are about to make our final selections for upgrades.

We’d love to hear what you’re planning on doing for upgrades... we're not gonna lie, we might copy your great ideas!

But we have some ideas too, so let's talk.

Cheers.

Default We did!!!

We haven't been contacted yet for our upgrades appointment but we do have a few ideas (depending on cost).

1. We were going to change the back window in to a sliding glass door.
2. We are thinking of putting a double sink in the ensuite (his and hers).

Those are the major items we were thinking of changing/upgrading if they will let us.

Default Nice choice!

Hi Brad & Katie, it’s nice to hear from you!

We opted for the double sinks in the master ensuite (that vanity is big!) which cost $875.

We thought about changing the window in the great room to a sliding door as well, but decided that it would limit our furniture placement. Just something to think about.

We did add an operating section to the great room window ($220) as it comes standard with only 1 and we wanted 2 of the 3 sections to be operational.

We also added two external light fixtures ($327 each), one on either side of the great room window for lighting up the back patio.

Keep in mind that these prices were only guaranteed for five days from the design centre as they are constantly increasing.

If you haven’t been contacted by the design centre yet and want to get an appointment ASAP, just call them @ 416.224.1200 to set one up.

Anyway, if you’d like to know any more, just ask!

Cheers

Default Any other Oriole owners out there?

Another upgrade we did that was very important to us was to move the fridge approximately 20" away from the wall to the basement stairs (structural change @ $250) and put a pantry in that space ($1426). (Pictures below)

We did this not only because we really wanted a pantry, but more importantly because that wall would have interfered with the opening of a fridge with a side by side door configuration, which is what we would prefer.

This way, we (and the next owners) can have choice of door configuration for a fridge, as any will fit now.

Anyone else want to share some ideas?

Brad & Katie, have you been to the design centre yet?

Default Upgrades to Oriole

Hey guys,

We had our structural/colour appointment last week and are really happy with the choices that we made. We actually ended up re-thinking some of the upgrades and changing our minds. The sliding glass door was too far out of our price range to consider it so we opted for several other things instead. That's a good point about the furniture placement - it was never really a thought when we were discussing the option of the door. It just seemed like a way to open up the room to entertain in the summer.

We also added a second operational window in the greatroom & master bedroom which seems like a great idea. The carpet was another upgrade that we made - we decided to go with berber carpet throughout the house and tile the front hallway between the kitchen and front door (we removed that little patch of carpet).

Its funny that you should mention that you moved the fridge away from the basement door - the suggestion was put forth to us by the designer. We'll have to check it out once you're settled. The pantry gives a little more storage space for the kitchen which is nice. We are hoping to go with a single-door fridge with the reversible door on the top and pull out freezer on the bottom.
