Default Home alarm components / monitoring

Does anyone know where I can buy separate components to install (motion, door/windows, siren, keypad). I tried Sayal and all they had were magnet switches for doors and windows.

I would like an alarm, but do not want to hook it up to monitoring.

My theory is that someone breaking in will not know whether or not the system is dialing out, but it they hear the siren go off they are more likely to run away. Also less likely to break in when I put up my fake ADT signs!

I have heard of the Alarm Force system where a live person will start talking, but I am skeptical of this.

I also think that from time of break in to a cop / security showing up could be 15min - 30min, enough time for them to grab whatever they want anyway. Most of the time I hear no one shows up to the house.

I don't feel there is much value in the $25 / month monitioring fee, except that it might reduce home insurance a little.

Anyone out that might be able to change my mind on the value of monitoring?

No, they will find the alarm panel and destroy it. Pretty easy to do in a new home. And this can be done before the horn even goes off or anything dials out.

Exactly, except for maybe if your smoke alarm is connected up. Also insurance will typically give 15% if you have a monitored alarm system. That may translate into about $100 for the year which falls way short of the $300/year you will spend on monitoring.

If you want PIRs, contacts, keypads and panels I can get you those. But installation would be up to you
