Default Kitchen Cabinet Colour Choice

We can't decide what colour we should go with for our kitchen cabinets...I prefer a dark espresso colour.. but everyone is telling me that it is going to show a ton of fingerprints or any other marks... Is this true? The kitchen and eat in area are tile and right next to the kitchen/eat in area is the family room which has dark hardwood floors, so if I decided to go with a cupboard a little lighter does this mean that I should also change my hardwood colour?

Help!

Not true. I've owned three homes in the last three years, and all have had some variant of the dark espresso cabinets. I love them, no marks, modern look.

Go with your gut. You can go for a contrasting look (cream cabinets, dark floors) or try to pick up cream tones in the floor with a lighter counter/backsplash

Same. Over a year and we haven't had issues at all. Love the dark cabinets.

Thats good to hear then, because I love the look of dark cabinets! Do you happen to have any pictures of your kitchens? I would love some ideas for countertop and backsplash

I got dark espresso for my kitchen cabinets, ligher floor tiles and then walnut hardwood. Hoping it will look good. Tiles are already in and now can't wait for flooring and cabinets to go in. But my gut feeling is it will look good because I saw builder's model home with the same colours.

Sure, here they are in chronological order.

First, potvin, thermofoil, shaker in F44W
Second, Ottawa valley kitchens, shaker, birch, ristretto
Third, Canac, thermofoil, chocolate pear

Yep! I have a ton of photos, let me know if you're looking to see anything in particular (tile selections, potlight placement, mantle, built-ins, whatever)
