Sharkman1 what model is your fireplace.

TGK62 raises a great point in link above: The guage of the metal will vary in different quality fireplaces so for some, this big bang may be 'normal' although imo not acceptable.

Ours are Napoleon GD36.

Default fireplace

My makes a loud bang too. Nonsense that it is normal. Harmless maybe, but not acceptable.

I'm not sure whether this adds any valid input into the fireplace bang discussion but the outlaws got a fireplace installed a few month's back. They overpaid, had to build an extra wall losing some living room space and the wall is very hot to touch. Needless to say theirs bangs but given so many things are clearly wrong with it, it's impossible to call it normal in their case.

Nice place Sharkman1

Hi Ena,

So...I have my 30 day walk through yesterday and when I asked why there was a heating vent in the pantry he replied "its code because the wall backs on to the garage" I said the some houses the same as didn't have one and he said then thats an issue because the room "could" freeze and that its not up to code. So...I suggest you call Tamarack and find out. He swears that EVERY Eton has a heating vent in the pantry.

The walk in closet apparently doesn't need one unless your an end unit as the walls back on to another house...

Not sure what I believe but he stated that he is only there to write things down and he has no authority to agree to fix anything...he writes it down and asks his boss....period... The 30 day "inspection" It was a true waste of my time.

Thank you Sharkman! Good to know.
I'm not happy that no one has come yet to do any of the repairs, and nothing is scheduled until May. This means pretty much the entire winter without heat in the ensuite...among other things.

no one has come to do repairs for me either. When I built my Tartan they were there in a flash during the first month. Someone is supposed to call me in a "few" weeks to schedule repairs so....I guess maybe by July. But them again...I'm not convinced that the repairs will be completed without a fight anyways....

On an entertainment note...I have neighbours...behind me on Hazelnut...apparently they thought I was watching them last night when I put the dog out (I watch the dog while shes out as we have no fences) so one of the men (mid to late 20's) decide to give me a show...off comes the shirt!...undoes his pants...pulls them down enough to reveal his grey boxers!!! all while wiggleling like a stripper! OMG seriously! The females were laughing and clapping...WOW! Living behind them should prove to be entertaining.
